Widespread Panic has just announced dates for their highly anticipated 2015 Spring Tour. With performances at five major festivals, and a string of dates reaching from Seattle to New Orleans, Widespread Panic continues to be one of the most relevant touring entities on the live music scene today.
Kicking off in Boise, ID the band will travel west with stops in Spokane, WA, Seattle, WA, Portland, OR three nights in Oakland, CA two nights in Los Angeles and wrapping up with two nights at The Joint in Las Vegas, NV. Widespread Panic will be hitting five major festivals during their Spring Tour including McDowell Music Festival, two nights at Wanee Music Festival, a return to the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, plus both Counterpoint Music Festival and Summer Camp in the same weekend. One of most exciting stops this Spring will be the two performances at the newly renovated Loew’s Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, NY on April 24th and 25th. Opened in 1929, Kings Theatre was the flagship theatre for the Loew’s chain in the United States, and one of five metropolitan area “wonder theatres”. Now owned by the City of New York, it has undergone a $95 million dollar transformation into a high-tech, multipurpose performing arts center. Special ticket packages paired with rooms will be offered to fans for what promises to be a very special couple nights of music. Fans of the band will be excited to learn that Widespread Panic will be going into the studio in late January to begin work on the first studio album in five years. Due out in 2015, the new album marks the band’s first studio release since Dirty Side Down in 2010.
Widespread Panic concert food drives began with the fan-based organization Panic Fans for Food. This organization hosted food drives at Widespread Panic shows throughout the country with the goal of “feeding people through music.” The highly successful effort was handed off to the band in early 2008 and has been going strong ever since. Through their efforts (since 2008) the band has raised a grand total of $96,000 and 12,950 lbs (6.475 tons) of food. Widespread Panic’s generous spirit, and dedication to giving back has helped forge a strong connection between the band and their huge and dedicated fan base.
