NASHVILLE, TN – Denver-based roots sextet Clay Street Unit has released their new single “Choctaw County,” a duet featuring Lindsay Lou, via the band’s new label home, Leo33.
“Choctaw County” is a pensive reflection on lost love and the passage of time as told through the warm and weathered voice of lead singer Sam Walker and Lou’s emotive tone. “It’s a song about two people looking back on a relationship in the place they grew up, one from the perspective of someone who left and one who stayed,” says Walker. “It’s about what could have been and holding onto the memories they shared together when they were young. We really tried to match the melody with the mood and the lift in the last chorus plays into that feeling of lingering regret and how life could’ve played out.” The cinematic narration paints vivid imagery while the honesty and intimacy lie the delicate balance between regret and gratitude. Clay Street Unit formed in Denver in 2021, with band members hailing from a wide range of areas including Montgomery, AL, Charlottesville, VA, Atlanta, GA, Philadelphia, PA, Denver, CO and Washington DC. Their various backgrounds and influences inform their blend of folk, rock, bluegrass, country, and Appalachian music. The group honed their craft playing around the Denver and Colorado music scenes as word spread about their electrifying live performances. The band’s fanbase is expanding quickly while they continue to perform in front of passionate audiences from coast to coast.
