Nashville, TN – Acclaimed Rustbelt Americana trio The Shootouts are celebrating a milestone moment this October. The group is marking both their 10th anniversary as a band and their 10th appearance on the Grand Ole Opry stage, all happening on 10/10. To honor the occasion, today the band releases the official music video for their rustic cover of the Yaz classic, “Only You.” The track appears on their critically acclaimed album Switchback (Transoceanic Records), produced by Dan Knobler (Allison Russell, Lake Street Dive). “Releasing the video for ‘Only You’ felt like the perfect way to mark our 10th Anniversary,” says frontman Ryan Humbert. “It reflects where we’ve been and where we’re headed. Ten years of music and memories we’ll carry forever—and to stand on the Opry stage for the 10th time on the very day of our anniversary couldn’t be more meaningful.”

The “Only You” video, directed by Patrick Tohill of Crashbang Productions, features Shootouts members Ryan Humbert, Brian Poston, and Emily Bates alongside a supporting cast of Kathryn Crisp, Deb Yates, John Stuck, Tandy Burnam, Jason Sousa, and Gary McGuire. Produced by Katie Babbage with cinematography by Diego Cacho, the video captures the warmth, grit, and undeniable chemistry that have come to define The Shootouts’ first decade.

Vince Clarke wrote the track, and it was first recorded by Yaz (also known as Yazoo in the UK) in 1982. The Switchback album version features an impressive roster of collaborators: Sam Bush (mandolin), Lindsay Lou (vocals), Russ Pahl (pedal steel), Mickey Raphael (harmonica), Jen Gunderman (keys), Jason Burger (drums), and producer Dan Knobler on guitar. The band loved performing the song so much that they returned to the studio with Dan Knobler again to make a second, stripped-down bluegrass version of the song as a bonus track. The results are a sweeping reinterpretation, bridging an ‘80s pop classic with the traditional textures of Americana and country.

The Shootouts’ journey began in Akron, Ohio, in 2015, when Humbert, Bates, and Poston came together with a shared love of classic country and a mission to create music that bridged tradition with a modern Rustbelt identity. Over the past decade, they have become a fixture in the Americana and Traditional Country community, praised for their sharp musicianship, heartfelt songwriting, air-tight harmonies, and tireless dedication to live performance.

Their latest album, Switchback, released May 30th, has already been hailed as a career highlight. Rolling Stone called it “the sleeper Americana LP of the summer,” and affirmed “The Shootouts perfect Rust Belt Country.” It spent more than 11 weeks in the Americana Music Association’s Top 10 Album Chart, peaking at #4, and 19 weeks in the Top 20. Twangville recently ranked Switchback as the “#2 Best Album of 2025 (So Far),” saying “every song could have been a hit in the classic days of Music City.” The album features standout collaborations with Sam Bush, Vince Gill, Lindsay Lou, Mickey Raphael, and Rodney Crowell, solidifying the band’s place among Americana’s most dynamic contemporary voices.

With a decade behind them and a future wide open, The Shootouts remain as dedicated as ever to their craft. Their celebration this month is not only a look back at the band’s journey, but a promise of what’s still to come.
