Dynamic Oklahoma born singer/songwriter Parker Millsap will release his new album The Very Last Day on March 25th via Okrahoma Records/Thirty Tigers. In the midst of a world so fond of condemnation as entertainment, Millsap’s rootsy rock ‘n’ roll poetry offers an open-armed love of people and their stories. The Very Last Day is the anticipated follow-up to his eponymous 2014 release, which netted him high-profile praise from NPR, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and others, as well as a nomination for Americana Emerging Artist of the Year. Whether the 23-year-old is singing from the perspective of a convenience store robber haunted by his past, or as the King of the Underworld wild with passion, his character-driven songs mine deep wells of joy and despair to create gut-punching narratives that are sometimes hellish, sometimes heavenly, and always human. Parker’s song “Pining” was also featured in NPR Music’s Austin 100 Playlist. Click HERE to listen.

Singer-songwriter duo Penny & Sparrow are releasing the stunning new album Let A Lover Drown You on 3/11 via Single Lock/Thirty Tigers. Produced by John Paul White (The Civil Wars) and Ben Tanner (Alabama Shakes), the album features 11 beautifully crafted songs overflowing with gorgeous melodies, soaring harmonies and thought provoking lyrics that cut right to the core. NPR Music recently included Penny & Sparrow as one of the Austin 100 at SXSW (See HERE) and premiered the new track “Bed Down” in a Songs We Love feature last month (See HERE). With influences ranging from Bon Iver and Iron & Wine to The Swell Season and even Stephen Sondheim, Penny & Sparrow create music that is equally as intimate and poignant as it is powerful and earnest. Taking a true DIY approach, without the help of any sort of team or budget, Penny & Sparrow independently released two celebrated albums, one EP and toured the country extensively building a loyal and fervent following. The duo built a reputation for creating strikingly honest, bare-boned acoustic music that resonates deeply with those who hear their songs and see their captivating live performances, which render audiences silent. “Her lyrics have a mystical streak, projecting love
and loneliness
across the landscape
and the sky.
” – New York Times

John Moreland

“The Oklahoma folk singer John Moreland has a beautifully abraded voice, full of potholes and gravel… ‘High on Tulsa Heat’ is starkly elegant, addressing sadness with clarity and directness.” – New York Times

Moreland’s current album, High On Tulsa Heat, was released last April and resonated deeply with both his devoted fans and the press. The Wall Street Journal featured the album as an exclusive premiere, describing it as “…10 confessional songs laced with guitar grit as Moreland sings heart wrenching lyrics in an earthy voice that sounds worn in beyond his 29 years.” Pitchfork called it his “prettiest if not his most musically vivid release.” John’s poignant lyrics and honest, sincere delivery have earned him immense respect among his peers as well. A musician’s songwriter, John has been invited to open tours for artists including Jason Isbell, Amos Lee, Lucero, Patty Griffin and Dawes. He recently made his network television debut with a stunning performance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. Watch it HERE.

engaging – and the Minnesota duo’s pure, tight harmonies are superb.”
MOJO
