Critics Hail The Jayhawks’ Paging Mr. Proust As One Of Their Best

Paging Mr. Proust, the new album from revered band The Jayhawks has received major critical praise following its April release. The eclectic collection of 12 new songs helps illustrate why The Jayhawks have remained such an influential and important rock band for over three decades. Paging Mr. Proust is filled with beautiful harmonies, infectious melodies and masterful songwriting. The new album has been the subject of features in outlets that include, The Wall Street Journal, Associated Press, Salon, The Guardian (US) and Rolling Stone Country, while garnering great reviews everywhere from American Songwriter to The Boston Globe to Paste. NPR Music posted a great write up via First Listen and NPR’s All Songs Considered featured the experimental track “Ace” in one of their discussions. See press highlights HERE.

“The band evokes an almost airy Beatlesque sound at times, but also rocks hard…A bright, challenging album.” Boston Globe

“…these dozen songs demonstrate Louris’ versatility as a writer and the band’s range as performers…Paging Mr. Proust’ is as ambitious an album as the Jayhawks have ever made…” Paste

Paging Mr. Proust is a testament to a band pushing forward and exploring new territory while still maintaining elements of the Jayhawks sound. The new album features the longtime core lineup that includes Gary Louris, Marc Perlman, Tim O’Reagan and Karen Grotberg. The group recently recruited multi-instrumentalist Chet Lyster (The Eels, Lucinda Williams) for the upcoming tour dates. The band will soon bring their illustrious show to the West Coast with newly announced summer tour dates. Beginning on July 12 in Fargo, the tour includes stops in Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Phoenix and concludes in Omaha on July 31. See full list of dates below.
