Nashville, TN – Today, Fruit Bats release the dynamic new album The Landfill (Merge Records). The highly anticipated set features the thoughtful, introspective songwriting of Grammy-nominee Eric D. Johnson colored with expansive, full band arrangements. The Landfill is the follow up to 2025’s acclaimed Fruit Bats solo outing, Baby Man, which featured Johnson on 10 intimate recordings.

The Landfill was created during a rare prolific period for Johnson. Soon after completing Baby Man, he entered a fully collaborative environment in the studio with his longtime touring band. Together they prioritized instinct and chemistry over polish, with few overdubs, no click tracks, and performances captured largely in real time. The Landfill was produced by Johnson, with mixing and additional production by long-time collaborator Thom Monahan.
