US & EUROPEAN TOUR DATES ANNOUNCED

Acclaimed Grammy-nominated artist, activist, and songwriter Aaron Lee Tasjan announces his forthcoming album Get Over It, Underdog (Blue Élan Records), out July 17th followed by a European and US tour (see full list of dates below). Throughout his career, Tasjan has built a reputation for honest and bold songwriting that engages with both personal and cultural fault lines. On Get Over It, Underdog, he continues that trajectory with an album that moves seamlessly between unabashed social commentary and introspective storytelling, pairing incisive lyrics with melodies that land with immediacy.

Comprised of 11 masterfully crafted songs, Get Over It, Underdog is an ambitious and spirited collection as Tasjan examines the mythology of the American underdog, unraveling its contradictions and complexities with wit, urgency, and a deeply human perspective. The record confronts the idea that the same qualities that elevate an underdog can just as easily lead to their undoing, offering a nuanced portrait of resilience, identity, and self-perception.

The protagonist featured in the new single “Lost & Alone” yearns for stability while wrestling with anxiety and intrusive thoughts, caught between isolation and a longing for connection. The joyful and infectious arrangement masks the inner turmoil much like the façade the main character projects. Listen to “Lost & Alone” HERE.

There is a deep melancholy that surrounds the release of Get Over It, Underdog as a pivotal figure behind the album’s creation was the late, beloved songwriter Todd Snider. Snider’s mentorship helped reshape Tasjan’s creative outlook during a period of artistic uncertainty. After reaching out to his long-time friend for guidance, Tasjan was met with a thoughtfully considered response that offered both practical direction and philosophical clarity. It sparked a prolific burst of writing for Tasjan, freeing him from expectations and reconnecting him with the core purpose of his work. Snider’s inspiration can be felt in the album’s sense of conviction and independence. The two co-wrote “The Real.” Snider’s passing shortly after the album’s completion casts a long shadow, but his spirit endures in the record’s restless creativity and commitment to artistic honesty.

Throughout Get Over It, Underdog, Tasjan explores societal tension between curiosity and consequence in a world that often feels on the brink with tracks such as “Welcome To The Clown Show” and the recent single “Science Friction.”  He shares personal experience with “Ballad Of An East Canton Lowlife,” where he revisits his formative years as an outsider in the Midwest, capturing both the sting of alienation and the unifying power of song.

Produced by Tasjan alongside longtime collaborator Mark Miller, Get Over It, Underdog is both a personal reckoning and a broader reflection on the stories we tell about ourselves and others. It captures an artist pushing through doubt and rediscovering purpose, delivering a work that is as thought-provoking as it is immediate. Get Over It, Underdog reaffirms Aaron Lee Tasjan as one of the most compelling voices in contemporary Americana—an artist unafraid to challenge, question, and ultimately connect.
