In advance of their February 4th album Sidelines, indie trio Wild Rivers is releasing the track “Bedrock.” The band’s effortless harmonies surround the brooding lyrics which reflect the weight we carry, while ultimately finding acceptance. Pre-order Sidelines HERE, and listen to “Bedrock” HERE.
Wild Rivers’ Khalid Yassein [guitar, vocals, keys] says, “The song came out of a period of depression. Even after you check all of the boxes, practice mindfulness, drink eight glasses of water a day, it can still rear its ugly head. This is the moment where you throw your hands up and give in to it. This song is like the catharsis that comes with that feeling.”
Sidelines captures Wild Rivers [Yassein, Andrew Oliver (lead guitar, synths), Devan Glover (vocals)] as they navigate their twenties, moving from the college years into the uncharted territories of adulthood. While introspective and thoughtful, songs on Sidelines also offer the lighthearted fun of discovering a whole new world.
Wild Rivers starts the new year with a US tour which kicks off January 27 in Pittsburgh, PA. The band is once again teaming up with REVERB on their Music Climate Revolution initiative to create a carbon positive tour and reduce its environmental footprint and eliminate greenhouse gas pollution on the road. Wild Rivers has also been invited to perform at both the BottleRock Festival May 27-29 and the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival June 16-19. Tour dates are below and tickets are at wildriversmusic.com.
Co-produced by Peter Katis (The National, Interpol, Sharon van Etten) and Wild Rivers, Sidelines was recorded in Connecticut, Los Angeles and Kingston, Ontario. The band first caught audiences’ attention with their 2016 self-titled debut, followed by their acclaimed EPs, 2018’s Eighty-Eight and 2020’s Songs To Break Up To. The band have amassed over 200 million streams for Wild Rivers’ music overall, and over two million listeners and upward of 100,000 followers on Spotify.
