Nashville, TN –  Today, celebrated singer/songwriter Katie Pruitt and Rounder Records release an alternate acoustic version of the artist’s beloved song “Worst Case Scenario.” The track originally appeared on Pruitt’s critically acclaimed 2024 album Mantras. The special intimate rendition of this fan favorite shines even more light of the depth Pruitt’s writing and her enchanting vocals. Listen to “Worst Case Scenario” HERE.

On February 7th, Rounder Records will release Mantras (Deluxe Edition). The digital-only release will feature alternate versions of three tracks from album, including ”Worst Case Scenario.”

Released as a stand-alone single last fall, “Standstill (with Ruston Kelly),” is a stripped-down interpretation of the poignant track with guest vocals from the song’s co-author Ruston Kelly, accompanied by a solo piano. “When I brought this song idea to Ruston two years ago, he met me with the kind of empathy & understanding that only a close friend could,” says Pruitt. “It’s a song about being gentle with yourself & trusting your own timeline. So often we feel like we’re ‘falling behind’ when in reality we’re exactly where we need to be.”

The third surprise on Mantras (Deluxe Edition) is an alternate version of “White Lies, White Jesus, & You,” featuring a full verse and harmony vocals from SG Goodman. When writing the song, Pruitt went to Kentucky to see Goodman to show her the song. Her friend offered some ideas that helped guide the final version of the bold track, which addresses Pruitt’s frustration with conservative Christian ideology and the hypocrisy.

Mantras is Pruitt’s first album in five years and her most personal and revealing work. Her thoughtful and self-reflective songwriting has connected deeply with her passionate fanbase, who pack venues from coast to coast and help foster a communal environment. Upon its release, Mantras garnered coverage from a wide range of media, including NPR Music, No Depression, Vulture, Entertainment Focus and much more.
