NASHVILLE, TN – Oklahoma-raised singer-songwriter Ken Pomeroy shares her new single “Bound to Rain (Live)” today, a stripped-down performance that coincides with her debut television acting role on FX’s The Lowdown. In the series, Pomeroy portrays Pearl Washberg and is part of an ensemble cast that includes Ethan Hawke, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Tim Blake Nelson and Kyle MacLachlan.
Pomeroy performs, “Bound to Rain” in an intimate, pivotal scene which series creator/producer Sterlin Harjo (Reservation Dogs) specifically built into the script for Pomeroy. Written with vivid imagery and a striking sense of inevitability, “Bound to Rain” blends dark humor and quiet resignation into one of her most affecting songs to date. Listen HERE.
“I wanted the performance to feel as vulnerable as the character herself,” Pomeroy shares. “It’s about letting the song exist in that fragile, exposed space.” The episode airs October 14th on FX and begins streaming on October 15th (Hulu).
Pomeroy will also be making her CBS Saturday Morning debut October 18th. Joining her will be her musical partner Dakota McDaniel along with her touring band.
2025 is turning into a breakthrough year for the 23-year-old artist. Earlier in the year, her cover of “Wall of Death” with Max Rainer of Wilderado appeared in Lee Isaac Chung’s blockbuster Twisters, joining a star-studded soundtrack that included Luke Combs, Shania Twain, Tyler Childers, Miranda Lambert, and more.
Her full-length album Cruel Joke, released May 16th via Rounder, has already established her as a major force in the folk world. Produced by Dakota McDaniel and Gary Paczosa (John Prine, Alison Krauss, Sierra Ferrell, Katie Pruitt), the record earned glowing reviews across the board.
Prior to that, her 2024 song “Cicadas” soundtracked a memorable moment in FX and Hulu’s Reservation Dogs, earning a viral buzz and national attention. Consequence named it “Song of the Week,” writing: “In her grounded, rootsy country music, [Pomeroy] takes up space in a lineage that runs through artists like Kacey Musgraves and Maggie Rogers, without ever sacrificing her own voice.” The Los Angeles Times praised her as a rising artist to watch, noting her ability to “make small stories feel universal.” NPR’s Ann Powers wrote that Pomeroy is “an artist of absolute clarity and calm… one who actually earns that gold belt.” Bandcamp Daily described her as “a seemingly bottomless well of lovely melodies,” while Holler praised her “open heart” and ability to “make you feel less alone.”
