GENRE-BENDING GROUP SET TO RELEASE NEW EP PRACTICE ON FEBRUARY 14TH

BAND TO MAKE GRAND OLE OPRY DEBUT DAY AFTER RELEASE ON FEBRUARY 15TH

Nashville, TN – Eclectic indie-folk quartet TopHouse has released their new single “Waste,” ahead of the February 14th street date of their forthcoming EP Practice. The following day, the group will make their Grand Ole Opry debut on February 15th.

The moving new track addresses the awakening one experiences in a dead-end relationship when they finally realize how time has slipped away while waiting for that moment to come. With its aching vocals, beautiful harmonies and lush, sweeping chorus, “Waste” exudes the feeling of emotional liberation that comes with finally letting go. Listen to “Waste” HERE. Magnet Magazine posted the exclusive premiere of “Waste” yesterday with a compelling backstory from keyboardist Andy LaFave explaining what drove him to write the song. Read HERE.

“’Waste’ is a song I wrote years ago before TopHouse even existed,” says LaFave. “It was when I was going through a time of intense loneliness and shame. It sounds like a breakup song, but when I wrote it, I was thinking more about my struggle with alcohol than anything. The anger in the song was very self-directed. I’m six years sober now, and this song was written almost a decade ago, but it’s stuck with me and the other TopHouse guys so we decided to revisit it and see what happened. It felt really good to us and so we recorded it and here we are!”

The Practice EP features six songs brimming with TopHouse’s genre-bending blend of rock, folk, pop and Celtic influences, pensive lyrics, soaring vocal harmonies and skillful musicianship. Practice serves as an alternate companion to the group’s EP, Theory, which was released in May 2024. While the substance of Theory exuded optimism and hope, Practice is a more contemplative collection that reflects on challenges and mistakes made while growing and evolving as human beings.

Formed in Missoula, Montana in 2016, TopHouse members moved to Nashville in 2019, releasing their first album that year with Hope & Fears. Soon after, the pandemic hit. With time on their hands the band became hyper-focused on honing their craft by practicing and writing. They released their second album (2021’s Snapshot), but they could not tour to support either release.

In spring of 2022, TopHouse began posting live performance videos and, to their surprise, the views began accumulating rapidly. They started booking their own shows, playing anywhere they could, including backyards, bars, living rooms, etc. Word started to spread and more people started showing up at tiny gigs, often driving hours to get there. The band and their new audience began to cultivate a fan-inspired community that became part of their unique live experience. Within two years, TopHouse was selling out clubs and venues from coast to coast. Today, TopHouse has almost 300k followers on Instagram, millions of listens on streaming services and a passionate fanbase that continues to expand. (See list of tour dates below).
