NPR & Noisey Premiere Two New Shovels & Rope Videos

Acclaimed Charleston, SC duo Shovels & Rope have released two new videos in front of the October 7 release of their highly anticipated new album Little Seeds (New West).

NPR Music posted the exclusive premiere of the clip for the gorgeous track “St. Anne’s Parade” (VIEW HERE). The clip features actual footage of Cary Ann Hearst and Michael Trent (aka Shovels & Rope) taking part in a friend’s wedding parade on the streets of New Orleans, with a lively cast of characters. Noisey posted the exclusive premiere of the video for the gritty track “I Know”, which features the colorful, but ugly side of a drag queen beauty contest and how competition doesn’t always bring out the best in a us. (VIEW HERE).

As songwriters, Hearst and Trent have earned a reputation as gifted storytellers and passionate performers. Little Seeds is the most personal and socially conscious album from Shovels & Rope to date. The collection reflects a pivotal and tumultuous time in their lives, and in our society, but with the Southern-infused, edgy rock, dark humor and deep sentiment that the duo has become known for. Little Seeds was recorded in the couple’s Charleston, SC home studio, and produced by Trent. Hearst and Trent wrote all the songs and played all instruments.

Little Seeds is the follow up to their acclaimed 2014 release Swimmin’ Time, which received critical praise from outlets that include Rolling Stone, Wall Street Journal, Relix, NPR Morning Edition, American Songwriter and many more (See Highlights). The duo has appeared on Conan, Austin City Limits, PBS Bluegrass Underground and twice on The Late Show with David Letterman.
