DAUGHTER OF RANDY PARTON AND NIECE OF DOLLY PARTON
HONORS HER FAMILY LEGACY WHILE FORGING HER OWN PATH
Nashville, TN – Today, Owepar Records (via Virgin Music Group Distribution) releases Reflections, the new album from Heidi Parton. As the daughter of the late beloved singer-songwriter Randy Parton and the niece of Dolly Parton, Heidi grew up immersed in music as part of a legendary musical family.
“Growing up in the Parton family, I was surrounded by songs and stories from the time I could talk,” Heidi says. “Watching my Aunt Dolly and the rest of the family perform was like having a front-row seat to a masterclass in music and storytelling. From harmonizing in church pews to singing around the family, music was our way of life, and I couldn’t wait to join in.”
Her debut album, This Kind of Love was released in 2017 and produced by her father. Comprised of mostly classic songs, the album signaled the arrival of a talented interpreter of song. In 2024, her fiery duet with Dolly on “A Rose Won’t Fix It,” was a featured single on the historical project, Dolly Parton & Family: Smoky Mountain DNA: Family, Faith and Fables.
On Reflections, Heidi honors some of her influences and family legacy, while writing her own songs for the first time. The album opens with purpose right out of the gate with the rocker “Countrified.” While her Aunt Dolly may be the most famous member of Heidi’s family, her greatest influence and inspiration was her father. Heidi closes the album with the deeply moving “The Gift”, which she co-wrote in his honor shortly after his passing.
Along with “Countryfied,” three other standout tracks include “Get Back,” “Hey Hey,” and “Thank You Very Much (I’m Outta Here Goodbye)”. All four were originally written and performed by the band Honey Creek, a short-lived country rock group from the early 1990s that included Randy Parton along with his younger sister, Rachel. “Honey Creek was a big inspiration to me,” Heidi says. ”I vividly remember being in the studio when they recorded some of these songs. Aunt Rachel is incredibly talented — writing, singing, playing, and I’ve always been close to her and her daughter Hannah. I cried several times while recording this album because so much of it is tied to my childhood memories.”
Aunt Dolly contributed to the album with title track, a song she had written in the late 90s but never recorded. A ballad of love, loss, and memories both sweet and bitter, It fit perfectly as Heidi Parton carries on an incredible musical legacy, while blazing her own trail.
