Parker Millsap Marks A Series Of Milestones In 2016

This has been a banner year for Parker Millsap following the release of his new album The Very Last Day. The highly anticipated sophomore release showcased the growth in both his arresting vocals and the depth of his songwriting and continues to be praised by the press with coverage from outlets including The New York Times, NPR Music, Weekend Edition (NPR), Associated Press, Entertainment Weekly, Spin and the Los Angeles Times who wrote, “The Very Last Day, is a raw and bluesy musical excursion that could provide the Coen brothers with subject matter for a half dozen of their noir-ish, character-rich comedy dramas”. Garden & Gun wrote that “his shows are positively riveting … loaded with a charisma that very few artists share.”

In July, Parker Millsap made his network television debut on CONAN with a commanding and dynamic performance of the album’s title track. In addition, the acclaimed PBS series Austin City Limits announced earlier today that Parker has been confirmed to tape the show in November, which is scheduled to air in early 2017.

On September 18th, Parker had the honor of being asked to perform with Sir Elton John at the Apple Music Festival at London’s Roundhouse. Together, along with Elton’s band, they performed “Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me” and Parker’s original “The Very Last Day”. Following that experience, Elton and his band attended a performance by Parker Millsap and Sarah Jarosz during their co-headlining tour. The Grammy-winning legend was so taken with the show that he posted to both Facebook and Twitter.

The Very Last Day was nominated for the Americana Music Association’s Album Of The Year award, a big step for Parker as his album was alongside some heavy competition: Jason Isbell, Chris Stapleton and Lucinda Williams. Millsap’s stunning performance of the song “Heaven Sent” was a highlight of the awards show and received a rousing standing ovation.

Parker Millsap and Sarah Jarosz also recently recorded a song for the “Luck Mansion Sessions” which was a collaboration between Jack White’s Third Man Records and Luck Reunion. A video of the session as well as a 7” single will be released in 2017. Catch a glimpse of what went down via NPR Music HERE.

This fall Parker Millsap will be supporting soulful swamp rocker JJ Grey & Mofro for what is guaranteed to be a moving night of music.
