MIGHT NOT BE TRUE” HERE

Nashville, TN – Things I’ve Said Before, the impressive independent debut album from alt-folk artist Remi Goode, is set for release on September 26th. The nine-song collection of original material serves as the introduction to an artist who balances the intimate and introspective with the eclectic and expansive, all with a common thread of warmth and sincerity that permeates the entire album. Listen to the pensive new track “Might Not Be True” HERE.

Born in Tucson, AZ and now residing in Nashville, TN, Remi (pronounced “RAY-mee”) is a trained classical guitarist and a former member of the acclaimed Tucson Girls Chorus. Growing up, she listened to a range of musicians and songwriters who influenced her creative direction. Artists such as Suzanne Vega, Kathleen Edwards, and Sarah Harmer were inspirational to Remi for their music, as well as the way they evolved from their folk foundations and continuously pushed their art forward.

The distinctive sound of Remi’s nylon string guitar is essential to Things I’ve Said Before. While she is trained in classical music theory, she relied heavily on her ear while writing the songs. That approach allowed her to create more openly, giving the music a relaxed and natural flow.

Remi’s lyrical approach is thoughtful, reflective and wise beyond her years. “I make an effort to get to the truth about a dynamic or situation with a person in my life,” Remi says. “Rather than choosing a side or coming to a singular conclusion, the lyrics tend to lean into contradiction and ambivalence. I hope that, as a songwriter, I’m able to show that we can find clarity and understanding while leaving some things unreconciled.”

Half of Things I’ve Said Before was not recorded by conventional means. The first five tracks, such as the tender album opener “Don’t Drive Me Home,” the atmospheric “Punchline” and the lo-fi, laid-back “Short Circuit,” were recorded in various bedrooms with Remi’s longtime creative and romantic partner – multi-instrumentalist Gabe Lehrer – who co-produced the album with her. The last four songs, including and the propulsive indie rocker “Return To Sender,” the dreamlike “Might Not Be True,” and heartfelt closer “Overseas,” were tracked in studios with additional musicians, and the results are captivating.

Things I’ve Said Before documents a promising new singer/songwriter at the precipice of her artistic journey. If this debut is any indication of what the future holds for Remi Goode, the road ahead is sure to be a long and fruitful one.
