Nashville, TN –– Two new tracks have been released from the unprecedented historical project, Dolly Parton & Family: Smoky Mountain DNA – Family, Faith & Fables, which comes out on November 15th via Virgin Music Group, in collaboration with Owepar Entertainment.

Dolly wrote the title track specifically for this project, which serves as an overarching theme that celebrates the musical roots and heritage of her family. Listen to “Smoky Mountain DNA” HERE.

“A Rose Won’t Fix It” was originally written and recorded for Dolly’s 1998 album Hungry Again but was not included on the final album. Dolly’s revisits the song with backing vocals while her niece Heidi Parton delivers a powerful lead vocal on the driving, rock-leaning track. Listen to “A Rose Won’t Fix It” HERE.

The full track listing for Dolly Parton & Family: Smoky Mountain DNA – Family, Faith & Fables was announced today revealing the full line up of contributors from generations of Dolly’s family (See full list below). A pre-order has been launched with the release of the two new tracks, which you can find HERE. The project will be available on vinyl and CD and via digital download and streaming. The special “Appalachian Autumn” colored vinyl pressing will be a limited run of only 3,363, the coordinates of family’s Tennessee Mountain Home in Locust Ridge, TN (36 degrees North and 83 degrees West).

Smoky Mountain DNA will shine a spotlight on the enduring legacy of two families – Dolly’s paternal Parton family and her mother’s family, the Owens. The project traces their origins from the United Kingdom in the 1600s to their home today in the Great Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee.

Produced by Dolly’s cousin Richie Owens,  the album features songs performed by various members of Dolly’s immediate & extended family, spanning generations. Some tracks include the voices of beloved family members who have passed, alongside contemporary contributions from today’s generation. These recordings not only celebrate the musical legacy but also the deep familial bonds and cultural traditions that have shaped their lives. Through this release, audiences will discover the treasured heritage that has been preserved and echoed in the music and vibrant culture of Appalachia.

Listen to the two previously released tracks from the collection, “The Orchard” (performed by Jada Star & Dolly Parton) and “Tell Me That You Love Me” (performed by Richie Owens & Dolly Parton).

A companion four-part docuseries is also in production for 2025 that will include concert performances filmed at Knoxville’s historic Bijou Theater, featuring Dolly and family from the record.

Smoky Mountain DNA is not just a musical and visual experience but a passage through the lineage and ethos of a family that has deeply influenced one of the world’s most beloved artists.
