Watch The Steel Woods Honor Tom Petty With New “Southern Accents” Video – 2019 Tour Dates Announced

Acclaimed southern-inspired rock band The Steel Woods have announced national tour dates in support of their upcoming album Old News, due out January 18th via Thirty Tigers. Centered around the soulful and commanding vocals of Wes Bayliss backed by the band’s instrumental chops, The Steel Woods bring a unique edge and darkness to their powerful live shows.

The Steel Woods have been gradually building a loyal and dedicated fan base through their non-stop touring schedule. Over the last two years they have opened shows for Dwight Yoakam, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Jamey Johnson, Cody Jinks, Miranda Lambert and Blackberry Smoke to name a few. The Steel Woods are firm believers in building careers the old-fashioned way, with intense touring, meaningful songwriting and personally connecting with their audience, converting fans with each live performance.

The material on Old News showcases the Wes Bayliss/Jason Cope combo as songwriters as well as demonstrating how the band has evolved as a unit. As with their first album Straw In The Wind (2017) the band included a Black Sabbath cover (“Changes”) and also acknowledged four other important artists that we recently lost, by recording tributes including “Southern Accents” from the great Tom Petty. The band’s headlining tour will kick off in mid-January with two album release shows at 3rd and Lindsley in Nashville, TN. The band will return to town on January 26th for a performance on the venerable Grand Ole Opry.
